Dear Marc

gnome-cd plays CDs via /dev/cdrom1 just fine. /dev/cdrom1 was
automatically created by discover1 and points to /dev/hdd.

cdplayer_applet2 does not play CDs from /dev/cdrom1. When hitting the
play button, it changes to the pause button for a split second and then
goes back to the play button. When playing CDs via gnome-cd, track and
time are displayed in cdplayer_applet2, CDs can be paused and started
again. However, if CDs are stopped they can not be started again using
cdplayer_applet2, but the behaviour is a mentioned above, i.e. the play
button turns for a split second into the pause button and then back into
the play button. There is no error message, it just silently fails.

I've tried using /dev/hdd directly and pointing /dev/cdrom to /dev/hdd
with the same result.

I've also rewired the drives to use /dev/hdc for CD audio with the same
result: gmome-cd works, cdplayer_applet2 doesn't with the above
symptoms.

As a side note, things work fine in Sid with gnome-applets 2.6.1-6, so
the question may be whether to fix this or just wait for Gnome 2.6 to
hit Sarge...

Best regards
Andree

Coin,

Happy to find a polite bugreporter :-).

Yes we are waiting for 2.6 entering sarge soon.
2.4 is not maintained upstream any more, and GNOME Team focus on
having a nice 2.6 in sarge.
So, i'm closing this bug and feel free to reopen for 2.6 if something
goes wrong again.

Thx for your report.
