IA64 and alpha were the only architectures affected by my introduction of
	LDFLAGS += -Wl,-z,defs
	LDFLAGS += -Wl,-O1
to pango1.0's debian/rules (see #252401). libgnome2-0 currently has these
settings as well. There is speculation that support for these flags hasn't
been tested sufficiently on these two archs
(see http://lists.debian.org/debian-ia64/2004/06/msg00020.html).

You may want to try if the segfaults go away if with 2.6.1-3 rebuilt from
source with those two debian/rules lines commented out. If they do, I'd be
interested to know which of these flags triggers the problems, so that a
proper binutils bugreport can be prepared.
