With mplayer, I can do something like this:

mplayer -dvd-device /sanity/mnt/hda1/20030303 dvd://2

To play a DVD image I have prepared with DVDauthor.

I would like to see the same functionality in totem, where I could just run
totem with the directory;

totem /sanity/mnt/hda1/20030303

And have it treat the directory as a DVD.

This way, I could use totem to test DVD menus before I get them burned off.

 Thanks,
  Tyler
