Package: pan
Version: 0.11.2-1
Severity: normal

A "&" in the username field of /etc/passwd is supposed to expand to a
capitalised version of the username. For example, on this box,
"finger james" produces this :-

Login: james Name: James Youngman
Directory: /home/james Shell: /bin/bash
On since Mon Mar 17 00:03 (GMT) on pts/0 from :0
[...]
No mail.
No Plan.

However, "grep james /etc/passwd" shows :-
james:x:101:100:& Youngman:/home/james:/bin/bash

When Pam starts, and the user has never used it before, it makes a
guess at their full name based on the contents of /etc/passwd.
However, it doesn't know about this notation, and so it guesses "&
Youngman", which is incorrect.
