The problem is that all of the themes in gnome-themes-extras do not work 
properly, as I described in original report. This is after I restarted 
the computer. Furthermore, Applications->Desktop Preferences->Theme does 
not even draw the "Open" button in the preview window properly - a 
placeholder icon is used instead.
