Package: gdm
Version: 2.2.5.5-2
Severity: normal

`gdmconfig' does not start, because of the following message:

~# gdmconfig

Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library

Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:

This happens when the package locales is not installed. The package
locales can not be installed, see the following information given by
apt-get.

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

No, this happens because the application cannot open the display. You
have to become root in a way that allows communication with the X
server.

This is not the libc6 package from woody, nor the package from security
updates. Please install libc6 2.2.5-11.5 if you want to install locales
2.2.5-11.5.
