Package: gnome-session
Version: 2.6.2-5
Severity: normal
I have searched high and low for users with the same problem. I go
to Applications -> Desktop Preferences -> Advanced -> Sessions ->
Startup Programs -> Add and enter: gdesklets start. I have also
tried using gnome-session-save and saving the session. When I
login to gdm and the splash screen is displayed, gdesklets is among
the icons however it doesn't start. If I look at the <ps aux>
output, gdesk lets is not started. I have searched forums at
gnomesupport.org, and other users state they have success starting
gdesklets by the normal method above. I assumed maybe it is running
in the background but like I said it doesn't show up on the process stack!

I don't understand how your system is configured. Why changing the
PYTHONPATH ? Why not using the debian packages for pygtk ? Try without
changing the path and without extra versions in /usr/local.
BTW I'm closing this bug since the problem is due to your changes and
not to the package.
Cheers,
Sebastien Bacher
