Bug#278364: The whole system freezes when typing the "u" (up)

What do you exactly mean by "The whole system freezes"?
Does only Xwindow freezes or even the Linux kernel too?
Did you tried to go back to console mode (alt+f1) when it freezed?
If it's only Xwindow, I got the same thing sometimes with Gnome,
when I misconfigure my sound system for exemple... Going up to
far with less may beep when the top of the file has been reached?
