Bug#260527: Can't input anything to gdm

I had a similar problem. I found it was related to the input method.

If you are in the graphical greeter mode of gdm (gdmchooser),
right-click on the login field and choose Input Methods->Default.

If you are in the non-graphical greeter mode (gdmlogin), you'll need to
restart in graphical greeter mode.

Not sure what the code resolution is, but that's a workaround.
