When logging into Gnome 2.4, i get the following error message in a window
labelled
"Error":

Error activating XKB configuration.
Probably internal X server problem.

If you report this situation as a bug, please include:

- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb

It leaves me with a strange keyboard configuration. Upgrading to XFree
4.3/unstable
does not remedy. Changing keyboard layout with the Gnome applet yields the
same error
message.

Peolple on irc #gnome suggested that the control-center package should be
compiled without
xkb. Some could resolve this issue by recompiling without xkb.
