 I think these warnings are just exposed by newer versions of Gtk/Gdk,
 but the bug was always present in applications.  The most common
 trigger of this warning is in libvte, where I've sent a patch from
 upstream.  Bugs on apps using libvte and having these warnings should
 be reassigned and merged with the libvte bug.

 Other erratical behavior is probably unrelated.
