Bug#339718: gdesklets won't start with python 2.3

gdesklets does not start with python 2.3 (even on pristine unstable
chroot).
It remains forever on "Connecting to daemon [####    ] "until timeout.
        
This is due to the fact that the python daemon process dies, making
connection to it impossible.
        
The daemon apparently crashes while interacting with the X socket :
