this is for nautilus on experimental... something like touch a on the
desktop does not make it appear anymore... it used to work with nautilus
2.10 ... 
however rebuilding gnomevfs/nautilus did not help and the gamin
monitoring tests were successful. 

So it is a problem of nautilus or gnomevfs.
