 Most of what you quote is GNOME 1 stuff, most of the core source
 packages were just adopted by Thomas Bushnell.

 Your problem is that gdk-imlib depends on libpng10 and should be
 rebuilt to depend on libpng12, and since GNOME 1 stuff depends on
 gdk-imlib, it can't be kept when updating libpng to a newer version
 (which doesn't have libpng10).

 You can ask on debian-gtk-gnome, but Thomas Bushnell wasn't subscribed
 last time we discussed things over there.

 Usually, filing a bug report is the best thing to do, but you have to
 understand the problem a bit. That's why we don't recommend people
 using unstable.

 BTW, please do not use this list to ask questions, debian-gtk-gnome
 fits best. This list is for bug reports in the pkg-gnome group, only
 bug reports, and not the whole of GNOME or Gtk is concerned.

   Cheers,
