 Yeah, that's what I understood from your backtrace.  I just learned how
 to check and checked and libxml2 has no symbol versionning, meaning
 it's not obvious for the linker to link to the correct function.

 I was told you simply should not use libxml1 with gtk+2.0, and actually
 you shouldn't use libxml1 at all, but I'm reassigning your bug as a
 wishlist against libxml2 to use versionned symbols.
