Bug#364944: problem with X?

I get the exact same effect (although it doesn't lock up the computer,
just kills X) by doing this:

$ gconftool-2 --type list --list-type string --set
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd/options '[ctrl     ctrl:nocaps]'

which obviously shouldn't result in a crash of X. I came up with this
value, as gnome-keyboard-properties tried to do the same thing.

Of course, no client activity should cause X to crash, so perhaps the
problem should be directed there.

I noticed that some of my other systems have
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb instead of
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd . Perhaps that's related?
