Sorry, I missed your reply until now.
Is this still a problem on up to date unstable or testing? I have no problems
getting Rhythmbox to display the bitrate for the file you attached.
Can you run this command and report the output?
"gst-launch-0.10 -t filesrc location=/path/to/song.mp3 ! decodebin ! fakesink"
Also, what gstreamer plugins and what versions of them are installed on your
system? You can find out by running "dpkg -l | grep gstreamer0.10"
