Bug#350940: gdm: Use a single, Debian-branded theme

Package: gdm
Version: 2.8.0.6-2
Severity: wishlist

Since the upgrade to GDM 2.8, the theme is chosen randomly at each
login. While this is a cool-looking feature, it is also quite confusing
for the user. GDM is the first thing the user sees after installing or
booting, and as such it should be simple and consistent.

As I understand that you don't want to make gdm depend on gdm-themes, I
have made up a theme that is small enough to be included directly in the
gdm package, with a look and feel similar to that of the default splash
and theme of GNOME 2.12 in Debian. You can find it at:
http://malsain.org/~joss/swirl.tar.gz
It uses a background from desktop-base, but as it is in SVG format it
can also be included directly if you don't want to depend on
desktop-base.
