I tried booting in single user mode, did a "su - chris" and mounted
the fuse fs. Then I let the system resume the regular boot process and
logged in via gdm. Any attempt to access the mount point in nautilus
just closes the file browser window.

(As soon as I kill famd the mounpoint starts working, if I start it
again, it stops working.)

I also tried replacing fam with gamin, which seems to solve the
problem. Well it's a workaround at least. (I'll keep fam installed
now, though to help find this bug)

Thanks,

C.
