Originally, I had Gnome 2.8 from a stable Sarge
installation. This was with no sound cards, onboard or
otherwise, and the hardware has always remained the
same. I then changed to testing, and installed the new
version of Gnome (2.10). Now, every time I log in, I
get an error box stating "No volume control elements
and/or devices found."

Besides gnome and its dependencies, I am using Debian
Sarge (3.1), with kernel 2.6.8-2-k7.
