This bug is still present in gnome-applets 2.12.2-4. It is mentioned in the gnome bug http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=311562 that this is caused by a "debian hack", and is fixed upstream as well as in ubuntu. Joakim Lundborg
