 (It's fine to send things in the order of one megabyte to the bug

 Importing and searching the MP3 works for me (see attached screenshot
 :-P), so it's quite certainly related to your environment.

 Could you please try to launch rhythmbox from a terminal with:
    LC_ALL=C rhythmbox

 How are do you login in GNOME?  Gdm?  Could you please try to login via
 a console, and type "startx" to login, check whether the bug still
 appears.
