Current sid has libgtk2.0-dev 2.8.13-1 not 2.4.0-3 (which isn't even in
Sarge, that has 2.6.4-3.1).  See http://packages.qa.debian.org/g/gtk
+2.0.html

As can be seen from
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/libdevel/libgtk2.0-dev,
libgtk2.0-dev depends on libcairo2-dev.

I'm guessing that the makefiles for vdkxdb2 doesn't use pkg-config to
get the required cpp and ld flags, and is thus missing the path to
cairo.
