Hello,
I have 3 display resolutions set in my X configuration. I can switch
between these using keypad +/-, but if I do that, the virtual desktop
size does not change, i.e. if I choose a low-res mode, the viewport
scrolls.
I can successfully switch between my modes using the xrandr command from
xbase-clients 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6 (using "xrandr -s 0" to "xrandr -s 2") - in
this case, the screen resolution changes *and* the Gnome desktop adjusts
accordingly.
However, if I run "gnome-display-properties", choosing a new mode does
not have any effect. The moment I click on "Apply" to switch to another
resolution, the following is output on the terminal I started it from,
and gnome-display-properties exits.
$ gnome-display-properties
The program 'gnome-display-properties' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
(Details: serial 3061 error_code 2 request_code 156 minor_code 2)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Maybe the X API for xrandr has changed??
