Bug#395462: doesn't launch any apps: cannot open display

Hi,

I cannont launch any application with gksu.
I always get a "cannot open display" message:

e.g.:
$ gksu /usr/bin/update-manager
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/update-manager", line 28, in ?
    import gtk
  File
"/var/lib/python-support/python2.4/gtk-2.0/gtk/__init__.py",

    RuntimeError: could not open display


another example:
$ gksu shares-admin
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server

(shares-admin:3439): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:


I can however start these programs manually as root.
