Hi,
when I mount my iPod, it is shown twice in rhythmbox: one time as a normal
storage device, and a second time as an iPod (with the iPod icon). Both
devices have the playlists from the iPod and show the name of the iPod.
I'm not running a Gnome desktop, just rhythmbox.
Here is the entry from my fstab:
/dev/disk/by-devicename/Apple-iPod-part2 /media/ipod vfat defaults,users,gid=ipod,uid=root,umask=003,noauto 0 0
