Hi,

You could try running metacity in verbose mode and see if you catch
anything interesting;

        METACITY_VERBOSE=1 METACITY_USE_LOGFILE=1 metacity --replace

The log file can be quite big, so be sure to compress it before sending
it to the BTS.
