 Hmm I was pointed at this bug some time ago, I don't know why I'm not
 subscribed.  Done now.

 I think this was fixed in our SVN and I thought it was uploaded but
 wasn't, this is the corresponding old changelog entry from our SVN:
gedit (2.16.2-2) experimental; urgency=low

  * Bump up gedit deps to follow Python build-deps as running with pygtk 2.8
    causes crashes: python-gnome2-desktop >= 2.15.90, python-gtk2 >= 2.9.7,
    python-glade2 >= 2.9.7.

 So I'm going to upload a more complete 2.16.2-2 now; until it reaches
 your mirror, you may get it from:
 <http://people.dooz.org/~lool/debian/gedit/2.16.2-2/experimental-pbuilder/>

 It would be interesting if you could downgrade your system to a state
 where you get the bug and then try upgrading to gedit 2.16.2-2 and see
 whether we fixed this correctly.

   Thanks,
