It still applies to a sid system updated about last week, with
libgtk2.0-0 version 2.8.20-5. Details:

"When pressing Compose for more than a fraction of a second, you get a
sequence of beeps and the compose sequence works only one time out of
two." doesn't apply anymore.

Still apply:

 - Compose+! ^ doesn't work
 - Compose+o a doesn't work
 - Compose+c c doesn't work
