Only when opened directly, but yes.

  True, true.  But maybe file-roller could check the magic numbers for
the file that's embedded in the bz2 stream?  It's not going to degrade
performance too much, since there's only one.

  I guess this requires an upstream change, but even if I can
double-click on foo.tar-1 inside file-roller and select "Open with
file-roller" and get another f-r to open it, it would be much more
convenient if the first one opened it directly.  In other words:
please forward, yes :-)
