That is the worst standard ever. It is an inconsistent mess, that is
based on somebodys imagination, and not reality. And worst of all, it
defines no structure. But I am not going to start a flamewar here. I
understand that it is not you I should be flaming about this.

As for this particular case, we are already being incompatible with the
upstream, and upstream is being incompatible with the standard. So why
not be compatible with _Debian_ standards, something that _Debian_ users
are more likely to care about.
