That sounds like a more general dbus problem.
It seems you can't connect properly to the dbus session bus.
Which version of dbus do you have installed?
Do other applications, that use dbus, like tracker-search-tool, work?
Can you reliably reproduce this bug, even after a reboot (where /tmp should be
cleaned up)?
Do you have an old version of the deskbar-tracker plugin installed locally in
~/.gnome2/deskbar-applet/handlers/?
