Bug#382871: [Workaround] Unwanted packages depended on by G-D-E

   Dear BTS:

To remove packages depended on by gnome-desktop-environment, remove
the gnome, gnome-fifth-toe, and gnome-desktop-environment packages.
Since only gnome and gnome-fifth-toe depend on g-d-e, and nothing
depends on gnome or g-f-t, removing these three packages leaves you free
to ditch unwanted packages depended on by g-d-e.

Pro: You're free to get rid of whatever you consider cruft.
Con: If upgrades to any of those three add dependent
packages, you'll miss out on having those new packages
      installed automatically.

I think those of us who appreciate the pro argument will manage to
bear up under the drawbacks of the con. :-)

(I add this note because I was considering submitting a wishlist to
remove ekiga from g-d-e's dependencies. After searching the BTS I found
a certain, shall we say, consistency of response to such requests. I
hope this will help those following in my footsteps.)
