Hi,

I skimmed through the log file but couldn't detect anything as obviously
wrong. 

You could try upgrading to gnome-screensaver 2.16 from experimental (you
also need the new gnome-icon-theme) and see if it fixes the problem. I
think there were some issues with idle time resolved in the 2.16.x
series.
