In fact, it doesn't really need GTK+, only gdk_pixbuf, but both are
bundled together, so this is more a request for GTK+.

Given the very small number of packages that would benefit from this
improvement, we won't make this change in the near future, thus I'm
tagging this bug wontfix. This may evolve later, but there's little
chance.
