Bug#446518: nautilus: broken symlinks not deleted from Trash

I confirm that on my system any symbolic link can be moved to the Trash
from nautilus. However I do recall being unable to delete a symlink once
a while ago.

Why wouldn't it be possible to move symbolic links to the Trash? I would
consider such a behaviour a weakness.
