 Hmm I adapted the first part of your upstream patch to drop
 DISTCLEANFILES from Makefile.am (and not .in) and used a different fix
 for the second part of your patch (it caused distcheck to fail).

 Thanks for your efforts, but perhaps you could try patching source
 files instead of autotools generated files for the next fixes you'll
 prepare?  This would allow for a long term solution which doesn't cause
 the patch to fail to apply each time upstream releases a tarball.

 Concerning this bug, I guess we will roll a new tarball for Debian when
 the proposed fixes are reviewed upstream.
