trying to logout from a Gnome terminal with 'gnome-session-save -kill' also
just sits there.
acpid and scim has been shutdown and disabled but problem still persists
kde is not installed on this system
aptitude full-upgrade was run on 20/04/2008 with no improvement
system can be restarted from gdm and logout workd from ttyX and TWM.
This is a clean install of etch on 19/04/2008 that has been upgraded to
testing then unstable
using aptitude
