This problem persists on Sid (gnome-applets 2.22.3-2 and
gnome-applets-data 2.22.3-2), however installing the gvfs-backends
package (0.2.5-1) makes the problem and the error message disappear.

Bumping to grave because this makes trashapplet unusable without
gvfs-backends.
