This would indeed be nice to have; however it would require gconf-editor
changing ~/.gconf.path* files, which are Debian-specific improvements,
so it is unlikely that we see such a change upstream. In all cases, if
you find someone willing to implement this, I’m sure this would be a
good incentive for upstream to support this.
