Hello Andrew. You are right that the systray pixmap shipped in
stardict-common is already transparent. However, I am using KDE and in
my systray the stardict icon appears with a white square-shaped
background (I can provide a screenshot if needed).

So, if the icon is transparent already, and it shows OK in the GNOME
panel, but not in the KDE systray, any idea who could be at fault?
(CC'ing the GNOME maintainers for this).
