Well, it seems like /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so was the problem here. Removing it makes epiphany start and iceweasel not crash. Where the plugin came from is unknown, this is a newly installed Lenny/amd64 installation.. dpkg knows nothing about this file.
