Bug#522370: Updating gconf2 to 2.24 freezes gnome-session startup

Package: gconf2
Version: 2.24.0-7
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

When I upgrade gconf2 and directly related packages from 2.22 to 2.24,
gnome-session does not start anymore.
After login, desktop background is displayed, then everything is stuck,
even before Gnome splash screen. It does also affect Rescue Session, as
well as every user on the system, including freshly created accounts.

Downgrading to 2.22 restores system usability.
