Bug#523703: update-manager: Fails to download changelogs for available updates after dist upgrade from lenny to unstable

Fetches list of available updates, and also installs them without problems. However, before installing I'm unable to download and view changelogs - the X cursor is in a perpetual busy state and nothing appears in the lower section of the window.

Console output when attempting to view the changelog for an update:
