Bug#540760: Doesn't turn backlight off

When gnome-screensaver activates the screen goes black but the backlight doesn't
turn off.  I can set the backlight level to 0 manually using sysfs:

echo 0 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness

And xset dpms force off also turns off the backlight.
