Bug#516554: cannot read nor write preferences

When I use gksu, e.g. "gksu gedit", as non-privileged user in
Gnome the following text appears on the terminal:

"(gedit:13007): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed."

Furthermore I get a dialog box:

"An error occurred while loading or saving configuration
information for Text Editor. Some of your configuration settings
may not work properly.

Details

Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://www.gnome.org/projects/gconf/ for information. (Details -  1: Failed to get connection to session: Did not receive a reply. (last line repeats multiple times)

I cannot use the gedit preferences (everything greyed out) and
when saving a text file, the dialog box appears again. Same
problem with other applications, e.g. "gksu evince".
