Package: cheese
Version: 2.22.3-3
Followup-For: Bug #479270

I have a very similar problem. It started happening after the first
major update of Lenny (5.0.1). On a fresh boot, cheese will fail to start my
webcam (UVC - logitech quickcam pro for notebooks 046d:0991). If I close
and open cheese again, it will display my webcam, but the menus and
buttons appear blank. There is a 'Take a Photo' button that's easy to
guess where it is, so if I click on the blank area where the button used
to be, it works. It takes the pictures and suddenly the menus and
buttons are back.

A very similar problem happens to me using skype. Everything works fine,
except that when either the recipient of the call or myself activate
the webcam, the buttons and menus in the call window dissapear. In the
case of skype, they only re-appear when no webcam is in use.

I searched the logs for any helpful information and this is what I
found:

uvcvideo: Failed to query (1) UVC control 1 (unit 0) : -110 (exp. 26).

compat_ioctl32: VIDIOC_S_PARMioctl32(skype:3985): Unknown cmd fd(35)
