I think we’re probably going to wait for 2.26.1, although some pieces of
2.26.0 will go into experimental if people are motivated to work on it.

Unfortunately a number of packages (going around nautilus and
gnome-desktop) are still stuck at 2.20 in unstable because of the
ongoing transitions. The top priority for me is to get this fixed,
because some pieces of the desktop are beginning to be strongly
out-of-sync, but I know the top priority for some other maintainers is
to package some pieces of 2.26.

If you’re not familiar with packaging, I strongly recommend that you
start by dealing with bug reports. This is an area where we’re doing
very bad, and it is a good way to learn. By wondering how to fix an
upstream bug, you’ll learn how to interact with upstream, their tools
and procedures. By wondering how to fix a packaging bug, you’ll learn
how packaging is done.

In all cases, please come discuss this on #gnome-debian (on GimpNet). We
use it as the primary discussion channel.
