Then the problem you describe has nothing to do with this bug, which is
here since 2.8. Please file a new one instead of polluting the bug logs.

As for your issue, it is most likely that one of your gvfs mounts or
monitors is hanging everything. This is not related to GTK+ – although
theoretically the file chooser is asynchronous.
