Bug#554460: update-notifier: update-manager-gnome displaying similar behavior

Package: update-notifier
Version: 0.70.7.debian-7
Severity: normal

this issue may not actually be in update-notifier, as i noticed
update-manager showing similar symptoms. when i launch update-manager
the gui window appears but is unresponsive and requires a "force quit"
to close.

similar to the original reported issue, top shows 100% cpu usage
by update-manager while strace shows no output after it attaches to
the process.

thanks again...
